Conservation

Our primary concern is for the long term preservation and welfare of objects.  This is achieved through careful assessment, treatment and the provision of advice.

Each case is considered individually.  Proposed treatments will be dependent on present condition, proposed usage, environment, context, clients' requirements and budget.

After investigation and analysis we can provide detailed condition reports, treatment proposals and estimates.

We aim to achieve structural and surface stability, using the least invasive methods and materials.  Treatment may include cleaning and consolidation of decorative surfaces.  It is sometimes possible to reveal the original surface decoration.

Work carried out is thoroughly documented.  If required, we will provide records of the treatment, materials used and any historical evidence found.  Further supporting archival documentation, analysis, final reports and photography can also be provided.
